Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya was declared a national park in 1974, and this was given legal status in 1981. It is registered as an area of valuable ecological significance, and is well worth a half day visit.

Cueva de Los Verdes (The Green Caves)

La Cueva de los Verdes is very close to los Jameos
It is a truly incredible piece of natural architecture, formed by the eruption of the volcano Monte de la Corona some five thousand years ago. It is also one of the longest volcanic galleries in the world (6 km long).
During the 17th century the caves were used by locals to hide from Pirates and slave hunters.
